This is where Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek met and first discussed the idea of making music together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jim reportedly told Ray that he&#8217;d been working on some songs\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John Densmore, who played drums in another band but knew Jay from meditation classes, quickly joined the band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the group recruited guitarist Robby Krieger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-the-world-famous-whisky-a-go-go\">2. This nightclub was located on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those were the first regular gigs of The Doors for several months in early 1966.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Doors soon graduated to the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.whiskyagogo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Whisky a Go Go<\/a>&nbsp;-some will say &#8216;The most famous rock n roll bar in the world&#8217;-, where they became the house band supporting other big US bands. The Whisky a Go Go still exists and proudly states that &#8220;As long as there has been a Los Angeles rock scene, there has been the Whisky A Go-Go.&#8221; It was indeed created in 1964 and hosted bands such as The Doors, Janis Joplin or Led Zeppelin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spotted during one of their live performances by the Director and the Producer of Elektra Records label, The Doors signed a deal with them on August 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-place-3\">3. The self-titled debut album was recorded in August 1966 and featured hits such as &#8220;Break On Through (To the Other Side)&#8221; or &#8220;Light my Fire&#8221;, which is ranked number 35 on Rolling Stone&#8217;s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Doors also recorded there their second album, &#8220;Strange Days&#8221; in 1967, experimenting with the Moog synthesizer and creating the amazing &#8220;People Are Strange&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This recording studio -now known as the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunsetsound.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sunset Sound<\/a>&#8211; was founded in 1958 by Walt Disney&#8217;s Director of Recording (Tutti Camarata), and has been the birthplace of a good number of Gold records, including albums by the Rolling Stones (&#8220;Exile on Main St.&#8221;) and The Beach Boys (the legendary &#8220;Pet Sounds&#8221; album).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-place-3\">4. The Matrix Club is very famous for being one of the places where the &#8220;San Francisco Sound&#8221; really emerged. The club was located at 3138 Fillmore Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two of The Doors&#8217; shows were recorded by the owner of The Matrix. Stories vary a lot, but the most common is that Morrison was caught making out with a girl backstage before the show by local police. Not very happy about the police interruption, Jim started to insult the police and mimic obscenities on stage with his bandmates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was later charged for inciting a riot, indecency, and public obscenity. This is where The Doors recorded their fourth album, The Soft Parade, released in 1969.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This album saw Morrison&#8217;s drinking habits becoming a huge issue, significantly complicating the recording sessions and thus increasing costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The album was quite experimental and Morrison&#8217;s touch was not as prominent as on the first three albums. The rumors reported that The Doors almost disintegrated during the recording of The Soft Parade. Nevertheless, the album proved to be very successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-place-3\">9. Woman, Morrison left the US (and The Doors) in order to move to Paris with his girlfriend, Pamela Courson. Then why is not clear, but we can presume that Morrison wanted to escape fame and lives a more peaceful life in France, in the footsteps of French poets. Below are some of the places where Jim went while in Paris:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>H\u00f4tel &#8216;George V&#8217;, where Jim stayed the first time he came to Paris (one year before his death)<\/li><li>&#8220;Vin des Pyrenees&#8221; (25, Rue Beautreillis), where Jim bought his wine and &#8220;Les Fils Pervrier&#8221; (43, Rue Saint Antoine), where he bought his French cheese (those places do not exist anymore)<\/li><li>Restaurant called Le Beautreillis (18 Rue Beautreillis), where Jim had often diner (now replaced by a restaurant called &#8220;Le Dindon en laisse&#8221;)<\/li><li>Les Deux Magots. Jim loved its Art Deco design and used to have dinner there quite often. The remaining members of The Doors even kept on coming here after Jim&#8217;s death. The restaurant still exists and has become a very famous place<\/li><li>Place des Vosges, Jim&#8217;s favorite place to hide away from the world<\/li><li>Former Bar Alexandre, where Jim used to get drunk quite often (does not exist anymore)<\/li><li>Apartment 17 Rue Beautreillis, where Jim and Pamela Courson used to live. This is also where Morrison was found dead on the sad day of July 3, 1971<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-place-3\">15.
